March Instructor Spotlight - Ingrid

Our March Instructor Spotlight is on Ingrid! Learn more about one of our most experienced instructors below.

I started as an aquatic instructor at 212 Fitness in 2012.  I have always had a love for water and when the aquatic class that I was in one morning queried us to see if anyone would be interested in becoming an instructor, I raised my hand!

There were lots of requirements that I needed to accomplish before I was able to teach my first class.  For starters, I became certified to teach through the Aquatics & Fitness Professional Association – International (AFPAI).  In addition, I became certified in 1st Aid/CPR/AED.

Later that year I became certified to teach Aqua Zumba.  This was a fun certification and is recommended for members looking to make a splash with a low-impact, high-energy aquatic exercise to enhance their fitness routine.  This class is recommended if you want less impact on your joints. Water creates natural resistance, which means every step is more challenging and helps challenge your muscles. I teach a full hour of Aqua Zumba on Thursday nights beginning at 5:45 p.m. if anyone wants to join me!

The following year I attended a conference called International Aquatics Fitness Conference (IAFC) which was held in Palm Harbor, FL.  I was amazed at the talented international aquatic instructors that came from all over the world to teach instructors like me to be the best in the industry.

A year later I decided to become AEA certified (Aquatics Exercise Association).  This is the highest nationally recognized organization for aqua instructors.  I personally wanted to pursue this certification which was a lot of work but it has paid off! It is important to continue CEC’s to retain certification status so each year I attend a weeklong conference to see the latest aquatic equipment, learn new moves and reunite with other aquatic enthusiasts.  The comradery and friends I have made along the way has truly been fantastic.

Are you ready to try a pool class?  On Monday evenings at 5:30 p.m. I teach “Aqua Action” and also on Saturdays at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m.

For members that want an invigorating workout my routines include a warm-up, a great cardio session that is often enhanced by water weights, balls, frisbees, and noodles, I mix it up with Aqua Zumba and bootcamp moves.  We end with a cool down.

I truly enjoy aquatics and have an enthusiastic personality that will bring fun to your aqua fitness workout.  Motivating members to push themselves to do their best, while providing a safe yet challenging routine is what I am all about.  There is variation with each session I teach.

I also work full-time in HR for Steel King Industries in Stevens Point; I have lived in the area all my life; and enjoy salmon fishing with my husband and vacationing with family and friends.

I am eager to have you join me in one of my offered sessions.  I guarantee you will have a blast and feel more energized and refreshed.  I look forward to meeting you soon!
